The Ultimate King Crimson were the many versions with only Robert Fripp staying on as founding member from 1968 to 1974. Even their weakest album of that period, 1970's "In the Wake of Poseidon," mostly a formula re-tread of 1969's hugely influential "In the Court of the Crimson King," still had many classic songs such as "Cadence and Cascade," "Pictures Of A City" and "Cat Food." This has got to be one of the best pressed records I have in my collection. Location: Spokane, WA. My favorite is the Original George Peckham (Porky/Pecko) Cut UK Pressing with the 'Pink Rim' Island Label. Another comparable version is the US Reissue EG Editions Half-Speed Mastered Pressing. This latter version perhaps has a bit more Clarity but sacrifices a bit of Warmth. At the time, I though it was pretty heavy and dark and would actually leave the room when he played it. I saw this on clearance at Best Buy and purchased for $7.49. I have a whole new respect for King Crimson. The album is spectacular musically and it sounds great on my Project Carbon Debut Evo turntable. NvjcOFJ.
